Manuscripts preserved in the Matenadaran contain thousands and thousands of works in various branches of science:

history, literature, medieval Armenian medicine, mathematics, chemistry, astronomy, philosophy, right and politics, art, music and others. Hundreds of scientists from the Matenadaran, various Institutes of the National Academy of Sciences, the Yerevan State University and from diverse research institutions of the world come to study these works and put their publications at the disposal of scholars, such enriching the treasury of human memory and presenting the Armenian culture to the world.

Unfortunately, nowadays it is rather difficult to publish scientific works. Thus, works produced by long and detailed researches need a benefactor to care for their publication so that they will be available to readers.

Today the “Friends of Matenadaran” Benevolent Fund does its best, with the help of hundreds of donators, to implement and finance the programs of scientific researches and publication of scientific works. The donations of participants, contributors, benevolent supporters, benefactors, honorary members or patrons of arts aim to implement various programs.  Each donator has his name inscribed either in The Matenadaran Annual or in the “presentation pages” of published books.

The “Friends of Matenadaran” Benevolent Fund is going to publish some series of books:
a)    General Catalogue of Armenian Manuscripts
b)    Catalogue of Manuscripts
c)    The Mashtots Matenadaran
d)    Armenian Political Thought
e)    Armenian Paleography
 f)    Treasury of Armenian Miniatures
 
More than twenty books, albums and bibliographical catalogues are going to be published, as well as textological and source studying monographs.
