New fonts have been created which are foreseen for the computer new system UNICODE

various valuable scientific-research works will be published through these fonts. The computer database of the Matenadaran old printed books has been created. The program of digitalizing Armenian manuscripts is being put into effect. In 1999 the Matenadaran created and put into effect its official Web Site www.matenadaran.am  by a grant from the OSI Assistance Foundation Armenia. This Web Site is accessible in Armenian, English and French. The Web Site was updated several times with the help of UNESCO; it was enriched with electronic information sources. The work of putting the Web Site into effect remains unfinished, as when a grant is over, it depends on the next grant. The role of new technologies for digitalizing the documents kept in the Matenadaran and in the sphere of Armenian studies development is of great importance, taking into account the fact  that the “Friends of Matenadaran” Benevolent Fund conceives new projects for digitalizing the manuscripts and printed books and making the Web Site more effective. In 2006 a new Web Site www.matenadaran.org was created and it will be available in 2007.
