Projects: Half Constructed Building

The second floors of the library and media depositaries of the Matenadaran were built

the plan of the Institute scientific–research building, with eight floors (two in the underground) was drawn in the1970-s. The building has a large reading hall, a conference hall, restoration and photography laboratories, rooms foreseen for researchers. The coast of the project and construction (without furniture) was the equivalent of 9,000,000$ in Soviet Rubles

Planning and calculation were done during 2006.

After the construction of this new building, nowadays building of the Matenadaran will be assigned only to the Museum, and it is going to have five exhibition halls instead of one.

It is foreseen to create a garden of the Friends of the Matenadaran in the territory of almost three hectares surrounding the Matenadaran. The seven public gardens will be called after the benefactors who will support the projects of the Matenadaran. The creation of this garden also means to perform earthworks for underground depositaries built under the rocks. 500,000$ should be spent to carry out this project.

It is necessary to spend 1,500,000$ for finishing the construction of the underground depositaries of the Matenadaran. These depositaries are not in use now because the underground consolidation and water absorbing works have not been duel performed.

To support the “Friends of Matenadaran” Benevolent Fund and encourage Armenians abroad to take part in this work, in September 2004, Garegin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, published an Encyclical in which he reminds us of the recommendation of our Lord Jesus Christ and makes an appeal to Armenians to be united and to preserve national relics.
